Nom rare rencontré dans le département du Nord. Sans doute une variante de Huisman (allemand Haussmann), nom qui désigne celui qui s'occupe d'une ferme, un paysan (en allemand le sens est un peu différent, et on pense plutôt à un employé de maison). Si le nom allemand Haussmann a souvent été porté par des juifs, rien ne nous dit qu'il en est forcément de même pour Housseman.
